He attempted to find a replacement fan, but none were available. Instead, he offered a credit so I could purchase the fan on my own. He even provided me with links to purchase the fan and step by step instructions for installing the fan. It was an incredibly painless process. Dear DFS,
As you see from the below payment confirmation, I've had my laptop for four months now. It's crossed my mind several times that I ought to write and thank you for sending me such a great machine at an incredibly affordable price and let you know what an essential part of my life it's become.
I haven't been able to drive for some years now and frequently order merchandise online (including cat food!). I hasten to add my husband takes me anywhere I want to go but I do like a bit of independence. I'm also incurable news and information junkie and I like to do research on various topics, plus there are relatives and friends to keep in touch with. Since July, life has become somewhat more restrictive. I already had unreliable knees and now have developed serious back problems (comes with old age and choosing the wrong genes), so had it not been for my laptop I wouldn't have been able to spend much time online and would have been bored out of my mind (literally!). I bought one of those zero gravity chairs (on sale at sierratradingpost.com), the kind you would use on a deck or patio, and so can lean back, swing my laptop on its stand over my lap (saw the stand on the BigLots.com flyer in my e-mail box), and surf and shop away. There's no pressure on my spine, my elevated feet are helping circulatory problems and my knees aren't complaining as much.
See what you did? And you all were so nice and helpful with everything. Quick too.
Please put my mail where everyone can see it. Let them know that even though it might be Monday, the next order they fill could be for another worn-out old geezette/cat lady like me, someone who needs to stave off Alzheimer's, keep in touch with the world, write to a child, and keep well-stocked up on cat food, not necessarily in that order.
Thanks for making me very happy without even trying. Y'all are great people.

A couple of months ago I purchased a DFS Refurbished off-lease Inspiron 5150 for my oldest son. It's one of three machines I've now gotten from DFS DirectSales.com, and I'm happy with all of them.
DFS Tech Support has got to be some of the most patient and thorough customer service professionals I've ever encountered.
The drivers on the Inspiron needed to be updated. DFS Tech Support sent links for the new drivers within minutes of their being requested, plus installation instructions that were above and beyond, almost like a "Special Class" for the Technologically Terrified.

I received a refurbished Dimension from DFS DirectSales.com and was absolutely terrified (I know very little about computers). They were prompt to respond, and very helpful - and apart from spending a bit of time with me on the phone regarding some error messages and other issues, they also emailed me links and diagrams that were above and beyond, and extremely helpful.
I also spoke at length with Dell Financial Services Customer Service twice prior to making the purchase, and they were also very helpful. Without them, I don't think I would have been in a position to make a decision about the purchase. (I have an older model Dimension and was trying to see which parts would work in the newer model that I purchased.)
